Baader Planetarium 1.25" Double Polarizing Filter

Baader's Double Polarizing Filter fits 1.25" eyepieces/threads. This dual filter system is designed with two filters that can be rotated against each other to consistently achieve an optimal brightness level for observing the moon, no matter the current phase. Plus, with an objective Astro Solar Film sun filter, it can also be used for solar viewing.

While one filter in this system is rotatable, the other is a regular filter that can be unscrewed and serve as a single polarization filter which is useful for a Herschel Wedge.

Important Information For Observing The Sun

Polarizing and neutral density filters require additional filtering such as a Herschel Prism or Astro Solar Safety Film before the telescope eyepiece for safe solar viewing. Observing without the proper filters can cause severe damage to both these filters and your eyes.

Grace ★★★★★

Fiddling with the contrast on Jupiter this morning, the gradual darkening as I rotated the outer ring was incredibly precise — no sudden jumps or sticky spots. It really lets you dial in exactly how much glare to cut from the bright limb. Makes seeing festoons on the cloud bands much easier.

Edward U. ★★★★★

The rotation is smooth and precise, letting me dial in just the right amount of darkening for lunar glare. It really cuts the harsh reflections off the moon’s surface, making craters pop with better contrast.

Amelia ★★★★★

The dual-filter design lets me dial in just the right amount of glare reduction on the Moon, and threading it onto my eyepiece was effortless thanks to the 1.25" threads. The separate rotating rings feel solid and click into place with a satisfying resistance.
