Lumicon 1.25" Minus Violet Filter

Use this 1.25" Minus Violet Filter, by Lumicon, to enhance your astro-imaging prowess on any lens. Designed using specially made colored glass that is optically flat, the filter features anti-reflection coatings on all optical surfaces. Be sure to use this filter for all telephoto lenses to achieve pinpoint star images.

The Minus Violet filter passes the maximum amount of visible light, including the full blue, green, yellow, and red portions of the spectrum. It absorbs violet and ultraviolet light below 420 nm and thus eliminates blue halos around bright stars in color photography. In photography, it eliminates bloated and swollen star images caused by violet and ultraviolet light, which telephoto lenses cannot focus exactly, due to chromatic aberration.

Kevin N. ★★★★★

Was a bit skeptical at first, but this filter made Jupiter’s bands pop much more clearly during last night’s viewing—definitely glad I picked it up.

Hazel ★★★★★

The colored glass really brings out the contrast on Jupiter and Mars—way clearer than my standard blue filter. It threads easily into my diagonal without any fumbling, too.

Abigail ★★★★★

I’ve been using this with my 1.25" eyepieces and the colored glass really does what it promises—the moon’s glare is gone and Jupiter’s bands show way more contrast. Screws in smooth and solid, no wobble. Pair it with a decent scope and you’ll notice the difference on the first night.
