QHY Medium Off-Axis Guider

The QHY OAG comes in three versions to accommodate image sensors of various sizes. All QHY Off-Axis Guiders have the same main body, which includes the prism, but the telescope/camera interface is sized to accept thread adapters of different diameters. Regardless of the diameter of the interface, it has six (6) 3mm holes and, without adapters installed, a thickness of 10mm. Both the telescope side and camera side adapters have a thickness of 3mm. The final thickness of the OAG depends on whether you need to use just the telescope side thread adapter or both adapters. If you are using the QHYCFW2-M or the 16200A it will connect directly to the OAG-M, and you won't need to use the camera side adapter.

The "Medium" version of the QHY OAG has a diameter of 62mm and will accept both M42x0.75 and M54x0.75 adapters. The OAG-M comes with both sets of adapters (two M42 and two M54), giving you more mounting flexibility. You can use either size adapter on the telescope or camera side. The QHY OAG-M supports camera models with APS-C, APS-H, and 36x34 sensors, including the QHY16200A, or as mentioned earlier, you can attach the CFW2-M directly to the medium off-axis guider.

The QHY OAG has an 8mm x 8mm multi-coated prism. Its position can be adjusted as desired and then locked into position with a thumbscrew. This OAG also comes with a locking multi-thread 1.25" focuser with an approximate range of 6mm. If you use the QHY5L-II as your guide camera, its position is adjustable when inserted into the QHY OAG-M. These two adjustments will give you a wide range of back focus.

Please Note: Choose the Small version of the OAG if your camera's sensor is smaller than APS-C or you have a QHYCFW2-S.

Choose the Large version if you have the QHYCFW2-L filter wheel or a QHY(IC)16803 camera. You can read more about the QHY-OAG-S here and the QHY-OAG-L here.

Henry I. ★★★★★

Finally got this mounted and dialed in last night — the helical focuser on the prism arm made tweaking the guide camera position effortless. My stars on the guiding graph dropped from 1.5" to 0.8" RMS once I locked it down.

Lily K. ★★★★★

Setup took me less than ten minutes and the prism catches guide stars easily even with my f/6 scope. The three size options gave me the right fit for my camera sensor, so no vignetting on the guide chip. This is the first time I've had round stars on every single sub.

Charlotte D. ★★★★★

The helical adjuster on this OAG makes dialing in the prism depth incredibly precise, and the solid all-metal body gives it a reassuringly hefty feel. Paired with my guide camera, it holds stars perfectly across a full night of imaging. Finally getting sharp sub exposures without flexure issues has
